April update

Newsletter – what we’ve been up to over the last month

This last month Help Bristol’s Homeless’ team has been very busy making hot meals for Bristol Outreach Services for the Homeless (BOSH). We feel this is very important as it is still cold in the evenings. We are also concerned about the end of the government programme as May ends, in which hotels provide accommodation to homeless people living on the street. This will mean that additional support will be most welcome.
Together, We Can Make a Difference.
Thank you

A New Wellness Centre

Hairdressers and Massage Therapists Wanted

We are very proud of our recently completed Wellness Centre sponsored by Hargreaves Lansdown. Here people can improve their mental and physical wellbeing with a haircut or a head massage, along with other things. This would help their overall recovery from sleeping rough. We assembled all the equipment so now we need some volunteers. This could be a great opportunity for trainee hairdressers or trainee massage/reflexology therapists. Please send us a message at volunteer@helpbristolshomeless.org.

2021 Finalists

Shortlisted for a Bristol Life Award

We have made it as a Finalist in the charity category of the 2021 Bristol Life Awards! There are 22 categories and we were selected out of 400 nominations this year. There will be a big award ceremony in September at the Ashton Gate Stadium. We are very excited and can’t wait!

Building a Community

Two Additional Module Homes

A 32 x 10ft module home was completed and was sponsored by the Masonic Charitable Trust. It was completed with an outdoor walkway and stairs up to it. We are very happy that this home is to be occupied by the 30th of April.

This month one module home was delivered by Galliford Try. It was not complete but we are making good progress and installed a full kitchen (well done to resident Mike for the hard work!). We are working on this home outside of the main site. This module home is to be placed on top of another. Once completed this will provide a new home to someone living on the street. We are still looking for a electrician and a plumber to help complete this home. If you would like to volunteer please send an email to volunteer@helpbristolshomeless.org.
