It’s been a busy summer!

It’s been a busy summer here at Help Bristol’s Homeless.

As you may know, in July we started the move from our original site on Malago Road, to our new site on Spring Street.

Moving between the sites was a big challenge, taking several days, and involving transportation and crane hire firms. Although this proved expensive it was critical for getting the containers to their new home. Many obstacles were overcome and it was a huge joint effort. We are so grateful for all the hard work everyone put in – it is so worthwhile and meant that we could then begin transforming the site to make it into the container village we have been working towards.

We are still in the process of getting the site up and running, and expect the site to be ready very soon. Watch this space!

We now have 15 containers to be lived in, the overnight bus for temporary accommodation, a shower block, kitchen/dining areas, a laundry room, and an office to enable admin for the running of the charity.

This has required a lot of assistance in getting the site connected. When living in a house we take these components for granted. Electrics, water, sewerage, drainage, as well as broadband for the office, landscaping and decking the outside area to connect the containers via walkways. There’s been a lot to do! And we couldn’t have done it without all the hard work from our amazing volunteers and the Bristol community who have so kindly given up their time and used their skills to help us. Thank you!

Watch this space for details as the Spring Street container village nears completion. We’re all looking forward to being up and running, and continuing our mission to change the face of homelessness in our great city.

Once the site is ready we’ll need help with various roles (including support workers, kitchen staff, and administration help). So if you think you can help us and want to get involved, please download our volunteer registration form and return it to us as soon as possible.
