June update

This month the hotels for homeless people on the street are now closed as temporary accommodation. We are currently seeing more homeless people on the streets and are anticipating more too. We have also seen an increase in the use of our shower facilities which homeless people can use – often we offer a hot meal after their shower made by our resident cooks.

An overview of HBH – impact in numbers

17 micro flats
1 micro flat being converted (Rob’s Place)
1 finished micro flat being delivered in June
2 guests on the bus
19 total living at the project
19 Sunday roast dinners every week cooked in our kitchen by our resident cooks
100 meals a week made for outreach in our kitchen for BOSH
1 advocacy and support session in the well being centre per week
<8 people can get a haircut in the well being centre once a month
<6 per day street homeless coming to use the shower block and a bite after their shower*

*this is now we are starting to ease restrictions but still COVID cleaning after use, with the special equipment we have

Plants Wanted – Putting Green in the Picture

One of our newest residents has ‘green fingers’ so gardening is taking the lime light this month. It is definitely brightening up the space. We have a new planting area including new salad crops, and some new climber plants against the micro flats.

We could use your help if have some old shoes lying around. They can be transformed into quirky flower pots!
