In June 2017 I challenged myself to climb Mount Snowdon and in doing so raise money for a cause I truly believe in; Help Bristol’s Homeless. I started volunteering with HBH because I saw they were a local community group who were committed to making a difference to homeless people’s lives and facilitating change in society. Not just another charity, they clearly make a difference on the ground, especially with their container project and outreach services. So to help raise money for this project, predominantly to help with the containers, I took part in a Snowdon climb through my workplace, which for me is a huge challenge – I am not ‘outdoorsy’ in the slightest! Despite battling gale force winds and torrential rain on the day – and therefore unfortunately not making it quite to the top! – I am very proud to say I blew my target of £200, finally raising £640! A big thank you to everyone who sponsored me, especially my Unite the Union workplace branch, to help support this great cause. I look forward to continuing my support to HBH, though perhaps not to the same extreme for a while!
