Get involved with our latest appeal

As winter approaches and we get nearer Christmas, we’re asking for your help

Providing someone on the street with a bag of useful items is invaluable to them, so we’re asking you to think if you were homeless, what items would you need?

In previous years our rucksack appeal has been hugely successful – lots of generous people in our community enjoy getting involved and like the challenge of creating a package for someone in need. In 2019 we received almost 100 donations of full rucksacks, and this year we’re hoping to beat that target!

So if you can, you’ll need a rucksack and to gather lots of useful items to fill it with.

As an alternative we’re also collecting shoeboxes – they can be filled with similar items and will be handed out to homeless people around Christmas time.

What can I fill the rucksack or shoebox with?

  • Sleeping bag
  • Gloves, hat, socks
  • Toiletries – toothbrush & toothpaste, bodywash, deoderant, tissues, hairbrush etc.
  • Female’s sanitary products
  • Underwear (medium sized)
  • Edible treats – chocolate, sweets, biscuits etc
  • Tesco or Greggs £5-£10 vouchers
  • Hand sanitiser, face masks, anti-bacterial wipes

What do I do with it when it’s full?

We ask for them to be delivered to us at our Spring Street site, and along with Bristol Outreach Services for the Homeless, we’ll hand the rucksacks out to people on the street.
