Home is where the Art is 2023

2 Oct 2023

On Friday, the 29th of September 2023, we held our annual HOME IS WHERE THE ART IS charity fundraiser. It was a night of fun and entertainment, all in support of raising funds for our charity. The event was a great success, with a huge turnout and a fantastic amount of money raised to help us tackle homelessness in our city.

At our event, we enjoyed music from the iconic Queen Bee and witnessed some impressive dance moves from people who attended. Everyone loved Jasper’s well-known Jerk chicken, and many gave compliments to Chef Sam and assistant Pelumi.

What was really lovely – this year is that a resident came up with the idea to have a canvas where people could add their hand print to help create a unique artwork and aptly named it ‘Together we can make a difference’. It was a great idea, and it was good to see everyone getting involved.

Before the main auction, our CEO Jasper spoke briefly about the HBH project, and following his speech, international performance poet Miles Chambers delivered a powerful and moving poem called ‘Bristol, Bristol’.

During the auction, we sold all the art donated to us from Bristol’s finest with a little bit of help from our auctioneer Patrick Stockhausen. There were one or two bidding wars for the high-ticket items with everyone getting into the fundraising spirit.

We would like to give a special thanks to Bray Leino for all their help with organising the event and for their dedicated volunteers who helped out on the night. We would also like to thank Andrew, Phil, and Matt from the HERE building for hosting the event for the seventh year running. Without their support, we would not have been able to make the event such a success.

A huge thank you must also go out to all the HBH staff and residents who helped make the event happen and run so smoothly. It was truly a team effort and we could not have done it without them.

Finally, we would like to give a massive shout-out to all the artists who donated their artwork to be auctioned on the night. Your contributions were greatly appreciated and helped us raise a whopping £13,436.00.

Looking towards the future, we have many more fundraisers planned, including the CEO Sleep Out on the 27th of November. We hope to see you all there for another fantastic night of fundraising and community spirit.

Thank you again to everyone who supported our HOME IS WHERE THE ART IS charity fundraiser. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of Bristol’s homeless.
