We rarely share our successes here at HBH but we really wanted to share Dan’s story with you because he is a clear example of what people can achieve when they feel safe and secure in accommodation.
Over to Dan . . .
I arrived at HBH needing and probably more importantly, “wanting” a fresh start, a new beginning.
I was coming from a chaotic lifestyle that had been my norm for many years. I spoke to Jasper over the phone and was surprised when he said he’d offer me a place on the project. I was surprised because the view I had of myself was very negative. My way of thinking had already led to me believing that I would get rejected.
When I think back, this acceptance was the first step to repairing my self-respect and self-esteem. It meant a lot after years of feeling outside of society.
On arriving at the project and was given a clean, warm and fully kitted-out home that I could call my own. Everything had been taken care of in regards to making it a fully functioning place to live and
I felt safe and felt that I now had the opportunity to reshape who I was and create a new lifestyle for myself.

I used my time at HBH to redirect my energy into moving forward and as the weeks progressed I started to achieve my short-term goals. This in turn built my confidence and it wasn’t long before my lifestyle felt a million miles from where it had been…and in a good way!
I arrived at HBH with next to nothing but left with confidence, hope, positivity and motivation.
HBH is a platform that can and HAS been used to rescue, rebuild and launch new and better lives.
