Help Bristol’s Homeless at Christmas

Christmas outreach and shoebox appeal

On 23 December 2021 Help Bristol’s Homeless provided a full Christmas lunch for the homeless and those in need in St James park in Bristol. The rain held off and everyone that came was well looked after with gift bags, treats, ruck sacks toiletries etc. We would like to say a massive thank you to Tania, her midwifery colleagues and their friends that helped out either by volunteering their time or kindly donating and providing all the veg. Big thank you to Johnny Hazel and his team at early years catering for providing and cooking the bulk of the food including a vegetarian option. Thanks to Wilma, Jan, Christine, Steve and all the lads on our homeless project for all their had work in preparation for the outreach. Thanks to Julie and her team. Thanks to Darren Harding and his team for your continued support as always, and anyone else not mentioned. It was great to put a smile on peoples faces.

A heartfelt thank you for the public generosity we received. All the donations of gift bags and shoe boxes was amazing as well as financial donations we’ve received. We collected and filled over 100 boxes for men and more than 40 for women. This time of year it is starting to get bitterly cold. So the work we do with BOSH, providing people on the street with warm coats and sleeping bags is essential. The leftover boxes and sleeping bags will be stored by BOSH, who can give them out on their frequent morning runs.

We hope you all had a great Christmas and wishing everyone a Happy New Year for 2022! Stay tuned for the next newsletter or our Facebook page for updates in the new year.
