What an amazing couple of weeks we’re had. With so much to report it’s difficult to know where to start. First we would like to thank everyone for their continued help and support with the vision for Help Bristol’s Homeless. Each step we take together, is a step closer to changing the homelessness crisis in our amazing city and without your kindness the work we are doing would not be possible.
Redrow 5 day conversion challenge.
Back in July we were contacted by the housing company Red Row. They asked us if there was some way that they could get involved with the HBH project. With their wealth of knowledge we jumped at the chance to work with such a experienced company.
The Redrow team came up with the idea of a 5 day conversion challenge.
The plan was – we would find a 30ft container and they would supply us 17 undergraduates to fit it out. To top it off they would also source all materials needed for the conversion.
With that we were approached by 3D, Robert Del Naja from Massive Attack who said he would sponsor the container. He also donated a one of a kind piece of art work for us to display in the container once it was completed and then sell to help raise further funds for our project. What a Legend!!
Our aim was to coordinate with Redrow so that we could start the container conversion and be completed just before the Downs Festival on Saturday 2nd September.
The challenge was on!
Many said it couldn’t be done but with a lot of hard work from all the Redrow volunteers and also some of our local tradesman we did it.

The Downs Festival
We were honored to be invited to showcase the latest Redrow container conversion, at The Downs Festival on Saturday 2nd September 2017.
It was a glorious day, the sun was shining and we were busy from start to finish.
We had a great response from the public and a lot of interest from people wanting to get involved.
A big thank you to all the HBH volunteers who attended.

Julie Dempster for supporting us by answering the many question people had about our project.

Our founder and project manager Jasper Thompson was also busy handing out flyers and inviting people to view the container and answering questions about the project.
Jasper was a guest speaker on a homelessness panel during the afternoon. It was good for us to be able to spend time with other service providers and agencies to find out what else is being done to tackle the homelessness crisis. We look forward to working closely with some of them, in particular Aid Box Community Shop.
We are so grateful to all of you who took the time to stop and chat to us, and for all the very generous donations that were left on the day.
